Terms & Conditions for Booking Your Retreat

Please read these terms carefully before completing your booking. By making a reservation for a retreat at The Intuitive Art Hideaway, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Booking & Payment:

• Full payment is required to confirm your booking and secure your room and painting session slots. We cannot hold the room without payment due to limited availability and high demand. Bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis.

• All payments are non-refundable but can be rescheduled, subject to availability, with at least 14 days' notice.

• Prices are subject to change without notice, but confirmed bookings will not be affected.

• All prices are listed per person in MYR (Malaysian Ringgit).

2. Cancellation Policy:

• Please note that we do not offer refunds for any amount already paid. If you decide to cancel or shorten your stay, either before or during your retreat, we cannot refund the payment. No refunds will be issued for a change of mind.

• However, we appreciate early communication if there is a change in your schedule, and we will attempt to re-book your room and sessions, subject to availability.

• In the event of a retreat cancellation due to force majeure or circumstances beyond Elaine Wong's control, we will promptly notify you and offer a full refund of the retreat cost or assist in rescheduling to another suitable date.

3. Rescheduling & Cancellations by Elaine:

• If you need to reschedule your retreat, please contact Elaine at least 14 days prior to your booking. Rescheduling is subject to availability.

• Cancellations made within 14 days of the retreat date are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.

• Elaine reserves the right to cancel any trip or part of the trip. In this event, we will provide retreat credit, valid for two years. If Elaine cancels a retreat for any reason, including Force Majeure, Elaine is not responsible for any loss of funds associated with travel accommodations made by the guest.

4. Deposit & Property Damages:

• We do not require any deposit during check-in, but we ask that you be responsible for any property, furniture, or tool damages incurred during your stay. Should an incident occur, please discuss it with us.

• You may be asked to replace the damaged item or be charged the equivalent cost of replacement. Examples include stained sheets or towels, or broken cups.

5. About The Intuitive Painting Sessions:

• Elaine's Intuitive Painting Sessions are not designed for therapy, and Elaine is not an art therapist. These sessions focus on strength-based, self-discovery, and hope-inducing art directives. Unlike therapy, where personal issues are addressed, Elaine’s sessions are about creative exploration.

• If you are seeking emotional or mental health support, we recommend finding a licensed therapist before joining our sessions. Although painting can be therapeutic, the experience varies: one may find it healing, while another may focus on playful expression or spontaneity.

6. Accommodation:

• The retreat includes accommodation at The Intuitive Art Hideaway, a residential home. The space is cozy and private, but please be mindful of the home environment as Elaine's elderly mother also resides in the house.

• Guests are expected to follow house rules and respect the space and its residents.

7. Health & Safety:

• By booking, you acknowledge that you are physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of participating in the retreat activities, including painting sessions.

• Please inform Elaine in advance of any medical conditions, allergies, or special needs that might affect your stay.

8. Respect & Behavior:

• The Intuitive Art Hideaway is a peaceful, creative space. Guests are asked to respect the environment, other participants, and house rules.

• Any inappropriate behavior will result in immediate termination of your stay, without refund.

9. Liability:

• The Intuitive Art Hideaway is not liable for any personal injury, damage, or loss of personal belongings during your stay.

• Guests are responsible for any damages caused to the property during their stay and may be charged accordingly.

10. Results & Experience:

• Elaine makes no guarantees that you will achieve any specific results from your participation in the retreat. However, we will do our best to ensure you have a wonderful and enriching experience.

11. Photos / Social Media:

• Elaine occasionally captures photos of the studio home to share on social media for marketing purposes. During your retreat, Elaine may also take photos or videos of your painting process, which she will share with you in a Google Photo Album after your stay.

• If you prefer not to have your photo or video taken, please inform us, and we will respect your privacy. However, during group activities, it may be difficult to exclude individuals from group shots, and we kindly ask that you take personal responsibility for avoiding the camera when necessary.

12.  Gift Cards:

• If you are purchasing the retreat as a gift, please use the gift card option. Gift cards are valid for 12 months from the purchase date.

  13. Changes to Terms:

• Elaine reserves the right to update or modify these terms and conditions at any time. Guests will be notified of significant changes prior to their retreat date

By booking this retreat to stay with us, you are indicating your agreement to and acceptance of our house guidelines, terms and policies. We appreciate your commitment to honoring these guidelines during your stay with us.

About The Intuitive Art Hideaway Studio

About The House

Situated within the residential terrace houses of USJ 12 Subang Jaya, Malaysia, this house doubles as Elaine's home studio. She frequents the space daily, working on her art and business. Elaine's mother (Aunty Q, 79), a resident of the house, oversees plant care, kitchen, and treats everyone to delightful dinners. During your stay, you may encounter Elaine's partner Kevin and additional visitors stopping by for studio visits with Elaine.

Self-Directed

Your retreat here will be entirely self-directed, and self-catered, with the help of curated creative & intuitive activities by your host Elaine, allowing the flexibility to work autonomously and follow your own creative process. We do not dictate your schedule (what time to wake up or have meals), as this retreat does not emphasize providing such.

Elaine will send the proposed sessions' schedule by email & calendar invite prior to your arrival, and re-confirm your schedule on the first day of your arrival.
Depending on synchronicities, there may be other participants/students also doing their own self-paced retreat during your stay. You may or may not be painting with others at the same time, depending on the programs and your preference.

This retreat invites you to slow down, relax🧘, release all the noise that is not serving you, and reconnect to intuitive flow, joyfulness, inspirations✨ and self-compassion.

This is the perfect place for you to gain new inspiration, recharge, and reset.

About Your ArtBnb Room

Your room is located at upstairs of our 2-stories small home. (Accessibility Note: Please be aware that there is a staircase to climb to reach your room on the 2nd floor.) The room is large, bright and a great space to create whole year through in warm Malaysia.

• Painting Corner with Easel: Your mini personal studio complete with an easel, word desk, stool and painting supplies on loan, where you can create masterpieces inspired by the serene surroundings.

• The little balcony offers a serene lookout to the neighborhood lane when you're looking for a rest with a cup of tea for some local life visual inspirations.

About Your Stay

Breakfast

We stock light vegetarian breakfast in your room's minibar for your convenience, with apples, bananas, juices, soy milk, yoghurt, muesli bars, loaf of bread with jam/butter, coffee & tea. Should you need freshly cooked eggs, kindly please inform Aunty Q. She will make you fried, hard-boiled or soft-boiled eggs lovingly in the morning.

Lunch

Lunches are NOT included in your stay. You can prepare your own meals in our kitchen throughout your stay. Malaysian eateries & restaurants are very convenient, cheap, and nearby (within 15-30mins walking distance / 5mins drive). Cafes and groceries stores are plenty around. Delivery services are abundant too. If you’d like to plan for meal delivery services, we can suggest our favourite healthy/vegan/vegetarian options. Dinner

Additional charges of MYR50 per person applies. Tell us your food allergies in the notes under questions sections. Enjoy a lovingly prepared, simple homecooked Malaysian Chinese vegetarian dinner by Aunty Q, Elaine's mum. Each meal, available by pre-booking, typically includes a variety of stir-fried vegetables, comforting soup, eggs, tofu, mushroom, tempeh, and mock meat, all served with white rice.

Getting Around

Like with most places in the Klang Valley, getting around by car is the fastest and easiest way. LRT stations connect Subang Jaya with Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur city centre.

We recommend downloading the Grab (like Uber) e-hailing app for easy and affordable transportation. We are 40 minute drive from KLIA 1 & 2 airport. 15min drive from Subang Airport. 25km from Kuala Lumpur city center. The nearest LRT train is Wawasan station, 5mins drive away (or 20mins walk).

Your Companions

This is your exclusive solo, self-directed retreat, where you'll enjoy a private stay in your ArtBnB room. Elaine's mother (who doesn't speak English) resides in-house, acting as a caretaker & providing home-cooked meals during your retreat.

In this house, Elaine floats in & out of roles: Your art teacher, friend, guide, host, mentor, encourager, supporter, photographer, art events & supplies shopping trip bff & more! As the studio that you'll be staying in is also Elaine's 'second home' (Elaine's home is just a 4-minute walk away, allowing her to frequently pop by her studio), sometimes she will be sharing meals with you (or with her mother and her partner Kevin), making coffee/tea with you, having conversations with you & more.

The Neighborhood & Surroundings

There are a few neighborhood parks for exercise and taking breaks with nature. You have access to our creative coworking space The Hatchery Place if you feel like connecting to others to work together. This quiet neighborhood is a major affluent residential township situated at the southern part of Subang Jaya and was established in 1988. A number of great restaurants, hip cafes, spas, parks, gyms, popular local food courts, mamaks, 7Elevens, Family Marts, launderettes and shops are within walking distance or just a few minutes’ drive. Enjoy Subang USJ like a local!

Arrival / Departure

Check In Time : Between 2pm - 6pm. Check Out Time : anytime before 6pm. Please inform us of your Arrival & Departure / flight details as soon as you have them. The full address and directions to the house will be emailed to you in your info package after booking payment is completed.

Our house values & guidelines:

1. Strictly no illegal substances allowed on the premises.

2. No pets allowed.

3. No smoking indoor. Smoking is only permitted outside of the house.

4. Please respect our neighbours by keeping the noise level down at night.

5. Make sure main door & padlocks are locked when you leave the house / when you sleep.

6. If you would like to invite friends over to the hang out at the downstairs living room area, please let your host Elaine know as a courtesy & for safety reasons. As the host of this space, Elaine would like to personally greet anyone who walks through the door to properly introduce our services and merchandise area.

7. Please take extra care of your keys. Lost keys incur a replacement fee.

8. Elaine's personal studio is also located upstairs, kindly respect her personal space, tools and her ongoing projects, despite its open layout. Kindly do not photograph her work-in-progress without permission.

   Bedroom

9. The room is exclusively for your retreat stay. No other unregistered guests are permitted to occupy it.

10. Please save energy by switching off all lights/fans/air-cons whenever you don’t need them.

11. Shut all windows when you leave the room/house to prevent unexpected rain from splashing in.

12. To avoid pests, store opened food in containers or use sealing clips. Bring down & throw leftover food trash downstairs in the kitchen.

13. Cleaning tools are available should you want to clean your own room.

14. Lock balcony grill door when sleeping or going out.

15. Do note that, we will not keep any of your personal belongings left behind after checking out, as our cleaner will dispose them.
